Costuming never ends…

My Clown has performed exactly twice now and already costume cleaning and repairs are taking place!  I cleaned the tips of her tennis shoes this morning and they are once again white.  I also resewed two snaps onto the jumper with a strand of perle cotton.  Much stronger than thread, I hope!

The picture below was taken when the major sewing was completed and before the initial costume parade took place.  After the costume parade, sequins, glitter, and tulle were added to various pieces.

The children all have touches of Christmas attached to their costumes.  These touches are attached in such a way as so they can be easily removed after Christmas is over.  My Clown has a blue poinsettia on the front of her jumper.  It looks great but did not want to stay up.  Now I have pinned 3 leaves to hold it up better.

Next, I sewed boning onto the jumper, just above the ruffle.  I’ve never worked with boning but decided that hand sewing was the best option for me.  It took an entire package of it to go around the bottom of the jumper!

Update!

This is the costume this morning!

And a better view of the boning!
